Meet Dr. Laura
I am native to the San Gabriel Valley and have been a proud resident of Duarte since 2008 when my husband, daughter and I moved from El Monte. I have 20 + years experience in Public Education - first as a parent volunteer and 19 years professionally. I have been a classroom teacher and instructional coach. For the last 9 years I have worked for E.L. Achieve supporting public school systems across the country. Now I am seeking the opportunity to serve my beloved community of Duarte as a member of the governing board.
I possess a deep understanding of the needs of both educators and students. This will allow me to make informed decisions that serve the best interest of students, families, staff, and the overall community of Duarte.
Public education is facing unprecedented challenges and now, more than ever, experience matters. Together, we can tackle the challenges facing our schools, celebrate our successes, and work toward ensuring all students and staff thrive. Our schools are the heart of our community and the future of our community starts with our children’s education!
Along with my experience, commitment and passion, I bring the following qualifications:
-
Doctorate of Education from Concordia University, Irvine
-
Master’s in Educational Administration from Concordia University, Irvine
-
Master’s in Teaching and Learning from Point Loma University, San Diego
-
Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies form Cal State Los Angeles
